____________________ ___________________ ________________________________________
Local Division Team Name
It is expected that all coaches and/or designate in the WOBA will:
1. Behave in a respectful and honest manner towards all officials of the game as well as towards all players and coaches on all teams. Their behaviour will be expected to set a positive example and attitude for all involved in the game of baseball.
2. Know what certifications they need to coach at their chosen level and that they will get those certifications in order to coach in the WOBA and /or at the OBA level.
3. Get their own copy (available as hardcopy or on-line) of the WOBA Handbook and Baseball Ontario’s Constitution and By-Laws, read them, know the rules and regulations that affect them and ask for clarification when unsure of anything in either book. Ignorance of these rules and regulations is not a defense in any disciplinary actions.
4. Have a basic understanding of the Official Rules of Baseball that pertain to the level that they are coaching.
5. Follow all of the Laws of the Land and request assistance from the appropriate authorities when needed.
Consequences of not following the Code of Conduct
The WOBA BOD and/or their appointed Disciplinary Committee will investigate complaints of violations of this Code of Conduct. A process for review of complaints and alleged violations as well as penalties that may be imposed is detailed in Appendix 2 of the WOBA handbook.
Baseball Ontario’s Constitution and By-Laws will be followed in all applicable situations. If there is no OBA By-Law to cover a situation, then the Committee will make a final determination. They may make this determination with the input of the WOBA executive and/or Ontario Baseball Association.
