Items to Highlight as We Work Through Return to Baseball

As our community works towards getting back to enjoying baseball, we wanted to reach out to you to keep you updated on pressing items that may be of interest to you as you develop your association’s return to sport strategy.

Local Association Checklist

We are pleased to inform you that in addition to our coach, player and parent checklists, we have developed a local association checklist to help local associations prepare for return to baseball. It is included in OnDeck under the ‘Educational Resources’ in the section ‘For Associations’.

Insurance and Expectations

We are pleased to report that the insurance rates for 2020 are being held at the 2019 rates of $3.10 per person (2.50 + 0.60 admin fee), and that the insurance application is now posted.

In order to ensure your insurance is in place, before taking the field for any practice, your local must:

· ensure that all players are registered with you and have completed Rowan's Law and other regular waivers

· ensure that all players, parents coaches and umpires have completed (1) the Declaration of Compliance and (2) either Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Indemnity Agreement (if 18 or older at time of signing) OR Informed Consent and Assumption of Risk Agreement (if younger than 18 at the time of signing)

· Ensure that all attendees of your event check in. We have created an easy to use online Attendance Tracker, available to everyone through the OnDeck app on your smart phone or online. We are confident that this will help tremendously with achieving this requirement.

Where players are engaged in baseball activities prior to Aug 1, 2020 submit your insurance application by Aug 1 2020. Insurance can continue to be applied for after Aug 1 as programs start up or as activities/events are added.

Office 365 Team Site

Baseball Ontario is pleased to advise that we have developed an internal team site for locals and affiliates to monitor submissions of waivers, declarations and acknowledgements that have been introduced as part of the Return to Baseball package.

We ask that you complete the linked form letting us know who within the local should receive the login information. Please note that we only need one person identified, and you as the local may choose to share the login with others. You can request that Baseball Ontario reset the password at anytime, should you need to change access.

Letter to Premier

Baseball Ontario has written a letter to the Premier of Ontario’s office with respect to Liability of Amateur Sports Groups re: Reopening from COVID-19.We encourage all locals to send a similar letter to the Premier’s office, as well as to your local MPP’s office, so that we can hopefully encourage Ontario to adopt this position to protect our membership.
