Guidelines for Teams Withdrawing
- Each team must declare their commitment at the, WOBA's July BOD meeting, to participating at the league's year-end Championship tournament A team that makes no commitment at the July meeting will not be entered into a Championship tournament.
- Teams will be allowed a short grace period to withdraw from the tournament. The grace period ends when the approved schedule is published.
- It is imperative that the Convenor communicates with each team informing them that if they withdraw from the tournament, after the approved schedule has been published, that a fine will be imposed. For round robin tournament formats, the fine is equivalent to the amount the team would have paid had they attended. Fee schedule Appendix 3 in WOBA Handbook.
- If a team withdraws after the game schedule has been published a revised schedule must be prepared, approved and sent out to the remaining teams.
- If a team withdraws within 7 days of the tournament start date the Convenor and WOBA VP or designate, and if required a WOBA executive member, will review the schedule and make amendments to the schedule as deemed necessary provided reasonable time permits for such amendments.
-
- ii) If due to timing of a team withdrawing and the decision is to leave the schedule of a round robin format as formerly approved, the scheduled game will be deemed as forfeited and the opponent will record a win and points awarded for the win. The forfeited game will not record a score, nor will a score apply to tie breakers when determining teams who advance. Only the actual games played may be used in the tie breaker formula.
- ii) If due to timing of a team withdrawing and the decision is to leave the schedule of a double elimination format as formerly approved, the opponent(s) will be awarded a forfeited game win and the schedule will not be amended except for game times of remaining games for the calendar day(s) that have been affected by a team withdrawing from the schedule.
- When a withdrawal fine is imposed, the coach and the centre's WOBA Rep are informed of the amount. If issue of non-payment occurs well past the tournament date it is the responsibility of the Host association to inform the WOBA Secretary/WOBA BOD of the arrears.
- When a team does not show up for the tournament, the existing schedule remains as published and each of their games is a forfeit. The team is fined. The coach and the Centre's WOBA Rep must be notified.
- Inform the WOBA secretary as well as the appropriate WOBA VP when a team withdraws or does not show up for any scheduled game in the tournament.
